NiKEL Beauty Calendar: January

We are prone to making big decisions in January. Instead of going for big ones, make three small but significant changes to your life.

19.01.2020

January is the month in which we are prone to making biiiiiig decisions, most of which are forgotten with the first melting snow. Here are a few small health and beauty tips to help you make a significant impact on the health and beauty of your skin, digestion, and overall health without too much effort! This is our beauty action plan for January!

Step 1: Detox

Have the winter holidays left their mark on you too in the form of tired-looking eyes, dark circles, and a few extra pounds? No worries. Health begins and ends with what is on our plate. This is why the first step in improving your overall health is to detox your body with a healthy diet. We are in the middle of the pickled cabbage season – sauerkraut. Enjoy it to the full, and you can also prepare it as a salad with pumpkin seed oil. Salad can be a very tasty and filling meal. Mix several types of salad, add grated carrot, celery, apples, and a few nuts. Season to taste with olive oil, lemon, or apple cider vinegar. You can add soft boiled eggs (don’t discard the yolk because it is rich in healthy fats) or tuna (rich in valuable omega-3 fatty acids). Substitute dinner with kefir or two apples on a few occasions. It is recommended to eat one apple a day, just like the saying goes: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!”

Step 2: Reboot Your Digestive System

Drink a glass of water with the juice of one lemon every morning. You can use regular tap water (let the water flow for a few moments first). Despite its acidic flavour, lemon is alkaline, so it contributes to reducing the acidity in the body, which is very important when it comes to health. Lemon detoxifies the body, has a beneficial effect on the skin, improves brain and digestive system function, and helps with weight loss. If you notice slow digestion, drink herbal tea with a laxative effect.

Step 3: Stay on the Move

Not much needs to be said on this topic. A mere half an hour a day of fast-paced walking in fresh air will have multiple beneficial effects on the body. Movement improves the body’s capacity for learning and focus, for work, and maintaining physical and mental stability and balance. On the other hand, a lack of movement can lead to health issues, reduced muscle strength and joint flexibility, various functional disorders, reduced socioeconomical stability, and often also mental health issues and reduced immunity.

Make your January plan simple, but stick to it. It’s down to one thing now – getting started!
