How does cellulite form?

Due to the weakened peripheral circulation, the capillaries leak fluid into the intercellular space

Excessive presence of fluid around the cells creates pressure on the fat cells. As a result, the excretion of harmful substances is slowed down. Connective tissue damage occurs which becomes saturated with fluid and waste products, becomes thicker and harder. The skin looks grainy like orange peel. If left untreated, cellulite will progress from the edematous phase to the fibrous phase and then to the painful sclerosing phase.
